 Do emojis enrich or impoverish our communication online?

I use emojis very often when I'm texting friends or family. I think they are very practical to express your emotions in a text message and to avoid sounding rude. Emojis are a part of our daily live and you get in touch with them quite often. So I find it very interesting to know more about them and if they really influence our communication online or not. And maybe also the differences between countries or generations. Maybe some emojis have a total different meaning somewhere else? It is something that everybody comes in contact with so I think it is important to know what they do for us and what the possibilities are with emojis. They just give an extra dimension to your text message to really express how you feel or to just make the message a bit more personal. I think it is a very interesting subject.
